Aurora law enforcement officials are still investigating the exact causes of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred this past weekend at the intersection of East 6th Avenue and Del Mar Circle. According to the preliminary police report, the motorcycle, which was driven by a male and had a female passenger, collided with a passenger vehicle. In an effort to try to avoid the crash, the motorcycle rider had locked the bike’s front brakes, which ultimately caused the motorcycle to flip over, throwing both the rider and his passenger from the bike.
Although the man driving the passenger vehicle was not injured in the accident, the female passenger on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and the male rider is still in critical condition as he attempts to recover from severe injuries.
Police have not officially stated whether they suspect that the use of drugs or alcohol on the part of the passenger vehicle driver – or the motorcycle rider – was involved in the causing the accident. Nor have they divulged whether any other potential negligence or recklessness on behalf of the driver or motorcyclist played a role in this fatal crash. However, should the driver ultimately found to have been somehow negligent and, as a result, be primarily responsible for causing this accident, the family of the deceased victim, as well as the injured motorcycle rider, will be entitled to compensation for their mental anguish and losses.
