A man who had been attempting to help another driver jump start his car caused a serious car accident on the I-225 in Aurora that led to multiple people sustaining severe injuries. According to the preliminary police report, the man had been driving a gold van and had attempted to help another driver who had been pulled off on the highway shoulder to jump start his vehicle. When the attempt at help failed, the man pulled his minivan into the slow lane of traffic, which ended up being in the path of another oncoming red vehicle.
The red vehicle slammed into the side of the gold van, causing the van to spin into the highway median, and then hit another blue vehicle that also spun out of control. Debris from the crash reportedly hit the van that had been parked on the highway shoulder, injuring one of the van’s passengers. Additionally, all four individuals in the red car, as well as three passengers in the gold van, sustained moderate to severe injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. When law enforcement officials had arrived at the scene of the accident, the driver of the gold van had fled, and authorities are still currently looking for this man that caused the accident in the first place.
While the man may face criminal charges of hit-and-run for fleeing the scene of the accident, he may also face civil charges if the injured parties in this serious accident choose to file a car accident lawsuit in order to seek compensation for their injuries, property damage and mental anguish.
