Pedestrian Accident Lawyers

Hit by a Car? We Can Help.

When a bicyclist or pedestrian is hit by a car or truck, he or she usually suffers very serious injuries. Head injuries are very common in bicycle and pedestrian accidents and are the leading cause of death for cyclists. If you or a family member was injured, you need an experienced personal injury lawyer to fight for your rights.

The attorneys at Mike Hulen, PC, protect the rights of injury victims. We will work hard in your behalf and seek compensation that covers your losses. To make an appointment, please call 303-932-8666 or send us an e-mail. Your consultation is free.

Causes of Bicycle and Pedestrian Accidents

Cyclists and pedestrians must obey the laws of the road. However, drivers have a responsibility to share the road with them. They must watch out for bike lanes and be aware of pedestrians. An accident is often not the fault of the cyclist or pedestrian. There are many reasons that cars and trucks hit pedestrians and bicyclists, including:

  • Speeding
  • Ignoring crosswalks, stop signs or traffic signals
  • Distracted driving (talking or texting on a cell phone)
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Careless or distracted driving is a common cause of accidents. Colorado recently passed a law that restricts people under the age of 18 from using a mobile device while driving. Drivers over 18 may use cell phones, but are not allowed to text. If this was the reason a car hit you, you may be entitled to punitive damages as well as compensation for your injuries.

After the Accident

If it is possible, you should preserve the bike, helmet and clothes you wore at the time of the accident. Take photos of the scene as well. In the case of crosswalk injuries and traffic sign- related accidents, photos may help us prove liability.

Since you may not be able to do these things, call us right away so we can begin investigating the accident and protecting your rights. Please call our Denver office at 303-932-8666.
