A recently report issued by the Denver Police Department has highlighted the fact that car accidents involving pedestrians, as well as fatal hit-and-run accidents, have significantly increased in the first few months of 2013. Here is a look at car accident statistics for Denver and Aurora, Colorado for the past few years:

  • Denver car accident statistics have displayed a dramatic increase in 2013, which has become a point of serious concern for city officials and law enforcement agents in Denver alike.

    • In 2011, there were a total of 378 car accidents involving 412 pedestrians in Denver, with 64 of these pedestrians being juveniles who were hit by motor vehicles.
    • In 2012, there were a total of 347 car accidents involving 390 pedestrians in Denver, with 66 of these pedestrians being juveniles who were hit by motor vehicles.
    • From January through February of 2013, there were a total of 85 car accidents involving 88 pedestrians in Denver, with 16 of these pedestrians being juveniles.
    • The 2013 car-pedestrian accident statistics indicate a nearly 50 percent increase in these types of accidents from the numbers reported in 2011 and 2012 for Denver County.
