Yesterday, a 53-year-old man who is suspected of being the driver in a recent hit-and-run car accident was arrested by Denver police. According to the police report, the hit-and-run accident took place at a city bus stop located at Josephine Street and East Colfax Avenue. Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved in the accident had hit a light post, veered off the road and then hit three people who had been waiting at the bus stop. While one of the injured people was seriously injured (as debris from the bus stop shot through his legs), two other individuals sustained mild to moderate injuries.
Following the serious car accident, witnesses reported that the driver ran from the scene of the accident despite the fact that witnesses had screamed at him to stop. Within a day, police had identified the 53-year-old man as the likely suspect and arrested him in his home.
While the man who is currently in custody will likely be facing criminal charges of vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident, he may also be facing civil charges in a car accident lawsuit if the victims of this hit-and-run collision choose to seek compensation for their injuries and losses.
